This device is designed to separate cells by mass or size by applying them to a centrifuge from blood during in vitro diagnosis.
The procedure of separating plasma and buffy coat from whole blood using the CD-LBx™ 1 cartridge(DISC) comprises 4 steps (whole blood centrifugation, plasma recovery and primary cell down, plasma recovery and secondary cell down, buffy coat recovery) and carried out automatically using CD-OPR-2000™ instrument.
The whole blood injected into the cartridge is centrifuged three times (4,000 rpm) to obtain pure plasma, and finally, the buffy coat on the red blood cell x-layer is moved to the buffy coat recovery chamber at low speed (600 rpm) to be recovered.
There are channels and valves between the chambers, and the fluid is moved by centrifugal force.
The CD-LBx™ 1 cartridge can separate pure plasma and buffy coat from 5 ml to 10 ml of whole blood.
