KTX is South Korea’s high-speed rail system, which is operated by Korail.
The construction began on the high-speed line from Seoul to Busan in 1992. KTX services were launched on April 1, 2004.

IBT Ni-Cd batteries are used in South Korea’s main cities (Seoul, Incheon, Busan, Daejeon, Daegu, and Gwangju).
4. Commuter Diesel Rail Car (CDC)
CDC’s lines use the outwall of city without electric power. CDC (Mugunghwa) uses mid- and short-distance transport.
5. 8,500 Electric Locomotive (EL)
South Korea’s EL was developed for the transport of underground resources in Gangwon region.
This EL was developed into inverter control type in 1998.

7. Diesel Electric Locomotive (DL)
Used by South Korea’s DL to transport underground resource and chemical raw materials of mid to short distance without electric power.
