As a ZigBee Alliance member, Nuri Telecom is actively participating in the various ZigBee promotion programs. It applied the technology to automatic electricity, gas and water meter reading by introducing the ZigBee wireless digital meter reader in 2003. The company also introduced other ZigBee applications such as the sensor network line service, real-time location search solution, gas station sensor network, vending machine inventory management, street light control and vehicle information service. Following wireless LAN and Bluetooth, the ZigBee technology has been rapidly gaining its popularity as the short distance wireless communication standard. As it consumes very little energy to have two AA alkaline batteries to last up to 2 year, it has been widely applied to the simple wireless control of lighting, hot water and gas valve as well as the automatic meter reading area. It is also applied in home automation, home networking, industrial automation, utility and building automation.
